Common Benefits and Applications of Hollow Bars
Hollow Bars are completely threaded, disposable drills rods which are
used for drilling holes with sacrificial bits that will advance the drill stage
to the required depth and then allow them to be grouted in place.
These bars can be produced in two ways. In the first way, a drill is
sent through a solid bar material. This process proves effective in maintaining
the accurate part dimensions, which can be very useful for critical
applications.
The second way is, centrifugal casting. In this process, the molten
material is forcefully spun and entered into the mold wall until it cools and
hardens. Hollow bars created by centrifugal casting are dense and uniform in
structure.
Hollow bars can be created from various materials, but hard and strong
can be difficult to process just to achieve perfect hollow bars.
Advantages:
The ability of hollow bars to reduce material losses is a great thing
about them. They help in reducing the need of processing the operation of
equipment for the deep drilling process. After being exposed to machining
operations, these bars are expected to maintain defect free surfaces, because
they provide high cutting speed and can last for a long time.
Because they have adequate corrosion protection, the bars can work in
different environments. Various installation methods can be used on hollow bars
as they are made from durable and long lasting materials. Hollow bars possess
tight dimensional tolerances, which makes sure that the work is done optimally
without any expectations of failure.
Applications:
Many industries in today’s time maximize the use of hollow bars in
various applications. Some of these industries are: chemical, food, automotive,
paper and paperboard, general machining, shipbuilding, and textile. Hollow bars
are used in these industries for generating radially machined components. They
are also used to produce valves, pumps, compressors, axles, actuators, shafts,
mechanical gaskets, connection components and measuring instruments.
